The Central People's Government announced in 1950 that each year on October 1st, the day the People's Republic of China was proclaimed, would be celebrated as National Day.
Large Floral Display
Every year before National Day, a large floral display is set up in the center of Tiananmen Square. The centerpiece, named "Blessing the Motherland," primarily features a flower basket containing peonies, magnolias, hibiscus, and roses. The flat part of the display is composed of floral patterns resembling the "Ruyi" symbol, signifying wealth, auspiciousness, peace, and happiness. The surface of the flower basket is adorned with Chinese knot patterns and the phrase "Chinese Dream." The floral display has a diameter of 50 meters, with the widest part of the basket measuring 15 meters and reaching a height of 15 meters.
Military Parade
Since the establishment of the People's Republic of China, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference has decided to include the military parade as an important part of the National Day celebrations. The military parade is a significant way to showcase the achievements of armed forces construction and to instill national confidence and pride. Generally, the military parade consists of two parts: the review, in which the reviewing officer passes in front of the troops being reviewed, and the march-past, where the reviewed troops march past the reviewing stand to be inspected.
