Yokogawa-E/A-Module sind elektronische Geräte, die als Schnittstelle zwischen Feldgeräten und den Steuerungssystemen von Yokogawa dienen. Sie fungieren als Übersetzer und wandeln Signale von Sensoren und Sendern (analog oder digital) in ein für das Steuerungssystem verständliches Format um und umgekehrt.
Es gibt zwei Haupttypen von Yokogawa-E/A-Modulen:

Analoge I/O-Module: Diese verarbeiten analoge Signale wie Spannung oder Strom, die häufig in der Prozessindustrie zur Darstellung physikalischer Größen wie Temperatur, Druck oder Durchflussrate verwendet werden.

Digitale I/O-Module: Diese verarbeiten digitale Signale, z. B. Ein-/Aus-Signale von Endschaltern oder Drucktasten.
Yokogawa bietet eine große Auswahl an I/O-Modulen, die auf unterschiedliche Anwendungen zugeschnitten sind. Zu den Faktoren, die bei der Auswahl eines E/A-Moduls berücksichtigt werden müssen, gehören:
- Signaltyp (analog oder digital)
- Anzahl der Eingangs- und Ausgangskanäle
- Spannungs- oder Strombereich für analoge Signale
- Senken- oder Quellenfähigkeit für digitale Signale
- Erforderlicher Isolationsgrad zwischen Eingangs- und Ausgangskreisen
Yokogawa-E/A-Module werden typischerweise in Racks oder Schränken montiert und bieten Schutz und Organisation. In diesen Racks und Schränken sind auch die Netzteile und Kommunikationsschnittstellen untergebracht, die für den Betrieb der I/O-Module erforderlich sind.
